Updated for NEET UG 2026: This page covers the complete Delhi MBBS counselling process for IPU, DU, MCC and DGHS-affiliated medical colleges with eligibility, schedule, fees, reservation policy and college-wise admission rules.
Delhi NEET UG Counselling 2026 is one of the most complex state counselling processes in India because admission is governed by 4 different authorities depending on the affiliating university and college type. Unlike most states where a single state authority handles MBBS admission, Delhi has Delhi University (DU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) conducting separate counselling rounds for different colleges.
For admission in MBBS, GGSIPU follows the Schedule of Counselling, rules for joining of allotted seats, blocking of seats, forfeiture of fee and other procedures issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS, Government of India. The eligibility conditions for general and open category admissions are detailed below. For relaxation of eligibility for reserved categories, candidates must refer to the IPU Reservation Policy in the official admission brochure.
For the academic session 2026-27, GGSIPU offers approximately 605 MBBS seats and 50 BDS seats across 6 affiliated medical colleges. Out of these, the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are filled by MCC, while the 85% Delhi State Quota seats are filled either by GGSIPU or directly by MCC depending on the institutional arrangement.
Candidates seeking admission to MBBS through IPU NEET counselling 2026 must fulfill the following eligibility criteria as per the official GGSIPU admission brochure for 2026-27.
1. Citizenship: Candidate should be an Indian, Overseas Indian or Nepal citizen. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Foreign Nationals are not eligible for admission through IPU NEET counselling.
2. Medical Fitness: The candidate should be medically fit to pursue the allocated MBBS course. A medical examination by an authorized medical board is mandatory at the institution level after seat allotment.
3. Age Limit: The candidate should have attained the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the first year of the MBBS course. There is no upper age limit as per current NMC norms.
4. Academic Qualification: Candidate should have passed the 12th Class under the 10+2 scheme or equivalent examination from a recognized University or Board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English (core, elective, or functional) as compulsory subjects. The candidate must have:
- Passed individually in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
- Obtained a minimum of 50% marks together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology
for General/EWS category.
- Obtained a minimum of 40% marks together for SC/ST/OBC candidates (subject to seat
availability for reserved categories in the respective institutions).
- Obtained a minimum of 45% marks for General-PwD category.
5. NEET UG 2026 Qualification: Candidates must qualify NEET UG 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) with the prescribed minimum percentile for their category. NEET UG 2026 is scheduled for May 03, 2026.
Important Note on Result Awaited Cases: Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination and expect to pass with the required percentage are also eligible to apply. However, their candidature will be considered only if they produce documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination at the time of counselling. No provisional admission will be granted for result awaited or compartment/supplementary cases. If the compartment or supplementary result is declared by the time of admission and the candidate fulfills all eligibility conditions, then such candidates would be considered eligible.
No Rounding Off Policy: There will be no rounding off of percentage marks in the qualifying examination. For example, if a candidate has 49.9% marks, it will not be rounded off to 50%, and the candidate will not be eligible for programmes where the minimum requirement is 50%.
It is the responsibility of the candidate to ascertain whether they possess the requisite eligibility and qualifications for admission. Appearing for NEET UG or applying for admission does not automatically mean acceptance of eligibility. With regard to blocking or vacating of seats by MBBS students during 2nd or 3rd round of counselling, whether through All India Quota or State Quota, the rules notified by the National Medical Commission (NMC) shall be followed strictly by GGSIPU.
1. Provisional Admission: All admissions in IPU and Delhi government medical colleges shall be provisional till regularized by the respective university and NMC.
2. Result Awaited Candidates: Candidates whose qualifying examination results are pending may refer to the provisions in the official admission brochure for guidance on participation in counselling.
3. Physical Fitness: The candidate must be in good mental and physical health and should be free from any defect likely to interfere with their MBBS studies and active outdoor duties required of a medical professional. All admitted students must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate from a doctor with valid Medical Council registration at the time of admission. The admitted students will be examined by a medical board at the institution level for verification of NMC norms for medically fit candidates.
